SharePoint Premium Document Translation is an awesome new feature to allow staff to translate documents from SharePoint document libraries. This is done either on-demand by pressing a button to translate files or by SharePoint document library rules. I previously blogged & reviewed SP Premium Document Translation (link) and I was very impressed! However in this blog, I will demonstrate how to enhance the automation of Document Translation using the SP Premium API (REST API) in conjunction with Power Automate and PowerShell.

This blog will show you how programmatically activate SharePoint document libraries for SharePoint Premium Image Tagging with PowerShell. This developer focused blog will provide the necessary PowerShell commands to add the special column Image Tags to a library with the property IsEnhancedImageTaggingEnabled set to TRUE. This blog will show how to add taxonomy columns to libraries and then turn them on for SharePoint Premium Taxonomy Tagging. This developer-focused blog will provide the necessary PowerShell commands to add a Taxonomy column to a library and update the field property ‘IsDocTagsEnabled’ to TRUE. A recent update to SharePoint Premium now allows users to translate documents directly from a SharePoint document library into another language. The original file is duplicated, and all formatting and structure are preserved during the translation.

A new update has come to Microsoft Syntex called taxonomy Tagging. This allow existing Managed Metadata (termstore) columns to be added to a library and then AI will automatically tag documents matching terms in the termstore. The tagged documents can then help users to find documents through browsing and search. No rules or training of a model are required to setup the feature and it is all configured by the end user in a library with one configuration option on the column settings a Yes/No for Automatically tag documents with terms toggle switch.

A new feature has come to Microsoft Syntex to allow users from a SharePoint document library or OneDrive to extract and merge PDFs. Users can combine two or more PDF files into a new PDF file with the Merge PDFs action or split PDF pages into new PDF files with the Extract pages action. This is all from the UI and n longer is there the requirement for users to remove the files from SharePoint/OneDrive and use third party software applications/upload to web sites offering this service. This is great for security and usability!

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is now available in Microsoft Syntex - which allows extraction of text from images. Both printed and handwritten text can be extracted from images such as posters, labels, forms, invoices, site surveys etc.
